Year 3 at Fahan School

Year 3 is a natural transition point for all students at Fahan. This period is marked by growth, curiosity and increasing independence, preparing students for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

At Fahan, learning in these years is engaging, meaningful and nurtured within a safe, positive and flexible environment. All students are excited to take part in new programs designed especially for Junior School students - including camps, Outdoor Education experiences and House carnivals. 

Year 3 is the perfect time to step into a community where every girl is seen, heard and known - and where she can grow into the next stage of her learning journey with confidence.

 

Strong Foundations in Literacy and Numeracy

Year 3 is a pivotal stage in your daughter’s education. It’s when the essential building blocks of literacy and numeracy are consolidated and extended, strengthening her core knowledge and confidence.

In English, students move from learning to read to reading to learn. The curriculum strengthens foundational knowledge and skills in literacy and supports girls as they apply these skills across all learning areas.

At Fahan, our intentionally small class sizes allow teachers to provide personalised support, helping each girl gain confidence and close any learning gaps so she feels secure, capable and ready to thrive.

 

Specialist Teaching and Enriched Learning

From Year 3, students learn from specialist teachers in Art, Music, Sport, Outdoor Education and Digital Technologies. These aren’t just weekly lessons - they are opportunities to learn from passionate educators who know each girl well, recognise her strengths and inspire her to extend herself.

Year 3 marks the beginning of structured outdoor experiences, including their first overnight camp. From here, their skills grow each year - building resilience, teamwork and a love of the outdoors.

These specialist experiences extend classroom learning, broaden horizons, and allow girls to discover talents they may not have realised they had.

 

Building Connections and Belonging 

Joining Fahan in Year 3 allows girls to form strong, lasting friendships early. It also welcomes families into our vibrant and connected community through events hosted by the Parents and Friends’ Association, classroom experiences and our many whole-School celebrations.

 

A Journey Through to Year 12

A Year 3 start at Fahan provides continuity through to Year 12. The deep bonds formed with peers across all year levels, teachers and the School community give each girl a sense of belonging that lasts a lifetime.
