The Fahan School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Penny Curran-Peters as the Principal of Fahan School. This appointment follows a thorough and rigorous six month search process.
With more than two decades of experience, Penny is an accomplished, progressive innovator and respected educator. Penny is currently the Deputy Principal and Head of Senior School at the Hunter Valley Grammar School in New South Wales, a co-educational school with approximately 1200 students. In this role, Penny has been responsible for reshaping the school culture in response to the changing social and educational framework in which independent schools now operate.
As an educational leader, Penny believes her mission is to maintain the focus on enhancing transformational learning experiences for every student. As Penny outlined to the Board, "Every student should have the opportunity to learn with dignity, options and purpose and to leave school more curious than when they arrived, with a passion for learning that will last a lifetime. I promote learning environments that encourage students to think for themselves, inquire on a deeper level than ever before, design their own solutions and take calculated risks with their learning."
Prior to joining the Hunter Valley Grammar School, Penny was with The Scots School Albury from 2005 to 2015 where she held a number of roles including - Head of Senior School, Head of Pastoral Care (Staff), and Acting Director of Enrolments and International Students.
We are excited to have Penny, an innovative and inspiring leader, join our School Community, both to build upon Mr Tony Freeman's legacy and to guide us into the future. Penny is a champion of girls’ education. She is a firm believer in the potential of students to be nurtured and engaged in order to make their mark in the world.
Penny is an energetic and dynamic leader. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a commitment to fostering positive learning environments. She values collaboration, community and connection.
To assist in a smooth transition, it has been agreed by both the Board and Mr Freeman that Penny will begin her role as Principal at the commencement of Term Three, 2019.
As we welcome Penny and her husband Rod to our community, the Board would also like to acknowledge the substantial and enduring contribution which our current Principal, Tony, and his wife Anne have made to Fahan over the past 11 years. Under Tony's leadership, Fahan School has continued to achieve outstanding academic results, whilst at the same time improving infrastructure and learning environments. There will be many opportunities to thank and farewell Tony next term and I hope you will join me then as we honour and celebrate his lasting legacy.
