Our Pre-Kindergarten to Year 2 students joined over two million readers across Australia for National Simultaneous Storytime, celebrating the joy of storytelling and the magic of books.
This year’s selected book was The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel and Danny Snell - and Mrs Tania Gath, Head of Junior School, brought the story to life dressed as truck driver Yacoub, walkie-talkie and all! Students embraced the fun too, arriving in hard hats, hi-vis, flannies and beanies - or donning whiskers and cat ears in honour of Tinka the cat.
After the reading, students worked in their vertical groups to build box trucks, sculpt clay cats, create puppets, and make cat toys inspired by the story. The National Simultaneous Storytime is now in its 25th year. Last year, it brought together more than 2.3 million participants across over 21,000 locations - a much-loved event enjoyed by all.
