This week, our Year 6 classes showcased their project work on the history of migration in Australia. The students brought the stories and experiences of 20th-century immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers to life using suitcases as symbolic representations of migrants' journeys. Through extensive research, the students developed character backstories, sourced symbolic artifacts and historical keepsakes and wrote fictional letters to family members to encapsulate the migrants' stories. Our Junior School students were inspired by what they learnt, and developed a new understanding of Australian history and fostered empathy for the bravery of those who migrated.
