10 November 2016
Thursday 10 November 2016 marked the opening of the TCE Art Exhibition showcasing works by Studio Practice and Art Production students.
Over 150 people attended the event with 18 students exhibiting their work, including four boys from The Hutchins School and two girls from St Michael’s Collegiate who studied the subjects as part of the Co-operating Schools’ agreement.
The Exhibition forms part of the required course work for the students and a panel of external judges will view the works and apply assessment ratings. The works need to show a creative concept, be cohesive and have supporting documentation.
A number of different mediums and techniques were employed by the students this year including: collagraphs; drypoint etching; woodblock printing; painting, screen printing; drawing; 3D printing; sculpture; digital photography; video installations, digital media and mixed media.
Art Teacher, Ms Alex Pitt, and TCE Artist in Residence, Ms Helen Wright, worked collaboratively with the students to put together the Exhibition and were supported by Art Technician, Miss Georgie Vozar, and Fahan maintenance staff, Mr Rod Nevin and Mr Andrew Kannegiesser, who purpose-built display solutions to showcase the students’ work.
In the official opening of the Exhibition, Alex said, “Every year, I am so impressed with the variety of work produced by the students and I would definitely encourage visitors to not only look at the finished art work but also the journals which are a testament to the commitment and passion each student has for the work they have produced.”
The 12 Fahan girls who exhibited their works included:
Isabella Alcorso
Hannah Edgell
Victoria Graves
Laura-Rose Harris-Cooper
Madeleine Kellow
Jacquelyn Little
